Ohio agency gets 2nd new director in six months Posted on June 9, 2015 0 COLUMBUS (AP) — The state agency that coordinates Ohio’s responses to emergencies is getting its second new executive director in six months. The Department of Public Safety says Sima Merick is being promoted to lead the Ohio Emergency Management Agency after four years as an assistant director there. The 51-year-old Merick replaces Evan Schumann, who got the job in January. The department says Schumann resigned to take a different EMA position that lets him spend more time with his family in Vandalia. Public Safety Director John Born says Merick has demonstrated a long-term commitment to the EMA. She led the agency as interim director before Schumann took over.
