Carey girls take 3rd place at Ada Invitational

ADA — Carey’s girls took third place Saturday in the Ada Invitational at War Memorial Park.

Led by Sarah Reinhart, who won the 1600-meter run in 5:35.60 and the 3200 run in 11:56.38, the Blue Devils scored 88 points, topped only by Spencerville, with 111 points, and Kenton, with 101 points. Mohawk was 13th with 17.5 points.

Reinhart also teamed up with sister Rachel Reinhart, as well as Chloe Etzinger and Juliana Boes, to win the 3200 relay in 10:48.17.

Lexi Plott also had a big day for Carey, finishing as runner-up in the high jump by clearing 5-0 and taking third in the 100 hurdles in 16.61 and third in the 200 dash in 27.85. She also anchored the 800 relay team that also included Kelsey Bursby, Macy Wentling and Eliza Weinandy and finished in 1:53.63.

Wentling was third in the 400 dash in 1:06.19. Etzinger took fourth in the 800 run in 2:43.14, and Abbie Bushong threw 30-0.25 to take fourth place in the shot put.

Mohawk’s best finish was fourth place in the 3200 relay. Addison Horner, Kaylyn Maybee, Lillian Lawhorn and Izzy Meyer finished in 11:23.85. Maybee tied for fourth in the high jump, clearing 4-8.

In boys competition, both the Warriors’ Zaiden Fry and the Blue Devils’ Anthony Bell picked up wins. Fry topped 14-0 to win the pole vault, while Bell was the high jump winner at 6-0. Bell added a fifth-place finish in the 800 run in 2:10.85.

Carey’s Brock Bushong threw 135-7 to take third in the discus. Brody Baker was fourth in the 110 hurdles in 17.21 and sixth in the 300 hurdles in 45.71. Bell, Baker, Jordan Mattimoe and Brayden Young were third in the 1600 relay in 3:37.59.

Both Carey and Mohawk next compete in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference Championships at 4 p.m. Friday at Wynford.
