Mohawk boys 2nd, Riverdale girls 3rd in Van Buren Invitational

FINDLAY – Mohawk’s boys were second and Riverdale’s girls third in the Van Buren Invitational cross country meet Saturday at Owens Community College in Findlay.

Liberty-Benton easily won the boys title with 37 points, while Mohawk topped Van Buren 95-104 for second place. Carey was 15th with 404 points.

Findlay was the girls champion with 56 points, while Van Buren edged Riverdale 106-112 for second. Carey was seventh with 154 points.

The Falcons’ Allison Woodruff won another race, finishing in 19:35.34. Marissa Bonham took third place in 20:18.12, and Annalease Woodruff was seventh in 20:53.47. Addie Manns finished 49th in 25:19.96, with Laura McBride finishing 75th in 27:20.06.

Chloe Etzinger paced Carey in eighth place in 20:57.46. Elysia Holsinger came in 21st in 22:34.49, with Kinsey Motter taking 34th place in 23:55.52. Gracie Luhring was 41st in 24:35.63, and Savannah Walton was 92nd in 29:09.37.

Mohawk’s Addison Horner finished 11th in 21:33.98, Eva Johnson was 30th in 23:30.60, and Izzy Lawson finished 99th in 30:30.16.

Brayden Cleveland led the Warriors boy by finishing fourth in 17:07.60. Phoenix Nally was 14th in 17:51.65, and Myer Kirian came in 26th in 18:47.93. Kolten Helton (18:59.25) and Marty Justen (19:00.02) were 28th and 29th, respectively.

Riley Miller was Carey’s top finisher in 44th place in 19:38.02. Callen Lewis was 85th in 21:34.75, with Aaron Lortz finishing 100th in 22:33.95. Damon Zimmerly took 126th place in 24:14.23, and Owen Sidor was 132nd in 24:43.32.

Ethan Spitnale paced the Falcons in 33rd place in 19:08.90. Logan Smith was 110th in 23:02.85, and Mike Penwell finished 118th in 23:38.73.

Liberty-Benton’s Jackson Hochstettler was the winner in 16:39.80.

Carey’s Ema Ritter won the junior high girls race in 12:47.44, with Riverdale’s Natalie Goodrich finishing 14th in 14:32.76.

Mohawk’s Evan Mullholand was the junior high runner-up in 12:15.12, with Carey’s Sawyer Miller finishing 11th in 13:13.07. Riverdale’s Zane Voll finished 32nd in 15:07.04

Riverdale and Mohawk run in the Old Fort Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday. Carey competes at the same time in the Buckeye Central Invitational.
