MOUNT GILEAD — Wynford’s Jacob Beaschler tied for sixth with a 94, and Upper Sandusky’s Owen Knapp was eighth with a 96 in the 13-15 division in the Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association tournament Tuesday at Pine Lakes Golf Club.

Walmart honors 3-year-old boy

By official decree and proclamation, Saturday was named an honorary holiday in Upper Sandusky in recognition of a 3-year-old boy. June 24, 2017 will forever be known as Ashtyn Thacker Day. Ashtyn was honored by Upper Sandusky Mayor Scott Washburn at a celebration of Walmart Distribution’s Heart to Heart program Saturday.

Wyandot County earns 8 gold medals during Special Olympics

COLUMBUS — Wyandot County finished the weekend with eight gold medals, but a silver medal finish in unified volleyball was one of the highlights during the Special Olympics Summer Games in Columbus. The Indians took part in unified events for the first time, and the volleyball team featured four unified athletes in addition to four Special Olympians.

Nine bands prepare to take WyCo Fairgrounds stage at 2017 Wyanstock

Wyanstock 2017 will rock the Wyandot County Fairgrounds on July 1. This is the fourth year for the 12-hour music festival put on by Wyandot County Young Professionals. The schedule is jam-packed with bands, food, drinks, vendors selling arts and wares, a cornhole tournament and a meat smoking competition from noon to midnight. Camping sites are available June 30 and July 1.
