What may seem of little value here will mean a lot to children in Ukraine. When Wyandot County residents Charlotte Leeth and Lana and George Sakash visit the poor Eastern European nation in September, they will be able to provide the most requested items — soccer equipment — and in large measure thanks to area donations spearheaded by the Upper Sandusky boys and girls soccer teams.

Three students from the Upper Sandusky FFA traveled on an eight-day trip to Honduras to learn about the Honduran culture and to help teach vocational students about agriculture.

Upper Sandusky High School wrestler Noah Clary (center) receives a certificate from city council Monday for advancing to the state tournament. This is the second year in a row Clary, who will be a senior in the fall, and recent graduate Shane Pack advanced to the state tournament.

The first Bill Gordon memorial award goes to longtime Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure riders Rosa and Reuben Rall, of Upper Sandusky. They were awarded the numbers and received the Bill Gordon award which was new for GOBA 2017 and was created to honor GOBA’s late director who died June 11, 2016, just before last year’s event.

Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 83 is partnering with A&A Grocery and Kimmel Corporation, all of Upper Sandusky, to feed 100 Wyandot County children in a unique way this summer. The three entities will provide 100 backpacks filled with healthy snacks to food pantries in Carey, Sycamore and Upper Sandusky.

The Upper Sandusky High School cheerleaders recently held the Universal Cheerleading Association Cheerleading Camp and received a superior rating. Danielle Thiel won the jump off.

Upper Sandusky native Dillon J. Davidson looked back on his time at Wilmington College from the vantage point of being 48 hours from his graduation in May. He realizes now that everything he did was connected and comprised the magical, mystical progression that was his WC experience.
