A building formerly housing New Discoveries Early Childhood Education Center is under construction after being purchased by Hospice of Wyandot County.

Children who completed 10 books in the Dorcas Carey Public Library summer reading program gathered for a party at the Carey pool Monday morning. About 400 youth from age 3 to sixth grade participated in the program, and 285 completed 10 books.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Voters in the Riverdale School District will have a decision to make in this November’s election regarding a three-year, 1 percent income tax renewal. At its monthly meeting Monday, the Riverdale school board approved a resolution to place the income tax renewal on the Nov. 8 ballot.

Participants in the first Hoops for Hospice fundraiser to benefit Hospice of Wyandot County present a check for $3,720 to hospice director Cathy Browne. The event was sponsored by Westbrook Assisted Living and Memory Care.

It began before World War II with a man selling sandwiches out of the basket of his bicycle. Ross Wood loved making deli-style sandwiches and selling them to people in Upper Sandusky.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation vision is “to grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition,” according to the organization’s website. But 18 years ago the granting of one teenage boy’s wish did not satisfy his love for planes. The experience only motivated him to do one thing — become a fighter pilot for the United States Air Force.

The Wyandot Soil and Water Conservation District hosted a tour Thursday morning of various projects around the county that are ongoing or have been completed. The tour primarily was an opportunity for local officials to take a glance at the projects.

A group of undergraduate engineering students from Minnesota made a pit stop at Tee Pee Campgroud in Salem Township overnight Tuesday. They were on their way to Pittsburgh to race a solar-powered car they had built from scratch.
