Fire departments team up to extinguish nighttime fire

Late-night blaze

NEVADA — Firefighters from at least three area departments quickly extinguished the flames in a pole barn fire Friday night at 10751 TH 133 in rural Nevada. No injuries were reported as the Wyandot East Fire District received assistance from the Sycamore and Upper Sandusky fire departments at the scene of the blaze that started around 10 p.m.

Members of HeartSong, of Mount Vernon, sing old-fashioned Christmas tunes during a Christmas extravaganza concert to benefit The Salvation Army of Wyandot County on Friday night. The variety show concert took place at Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church and included seasonal favorites, from classic Christmas songs to Amy Grant’s popular “Grown-Up Christmas List.”

As tradition goes, the holiday season is accompanied by adages of joy and the gift of giving. For local law enforcement officials, that meant giving back to the community. On Wednesday, the Upper Sandusky Police Department partnered with Walmart and the Elks for its annual Shop with a Cop program benefiting area youth.
