FOREST — In 1973, the depot that had been the hub of the Forest community had fallen on hard times. The Pennsylvania and New York Central railroads had closed the door in the decade earlier and the huge brick building was considered a nuisance. Mayor Tom Price sent the railroad owners a letter demanding they make repairs to the building or destroy it.

Wyandot Memorial Hospital has been given the first Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace award by the Wyandot County Women, Infants and Children program for its support of breastfeeding mothers, from those who give birth at the hospital to staff members.

First responders work to put out a trailer fire early Saturday morning after two semitrailers were involved in crash around 1 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 23 and CH 44. According to witnesses at the scene, no injuries were reported.

Two families from Bowling Green and West Virginia met at Harrison Smith Park in Upper Sandusky on Monday to catch up after one family moved to South Korea. Jared and Emily Hatch (pictured) and their children, Lucy (front, second from right), 3, and Penelope, 1, who is sitting on her father’s lap, are living in Bowling Green for the summer but will return to South Korea, where Emily Hatch teaches music to children stationed with their families through the U.S. Department of Defense.

Hundreds of people lined up Saturday for the fifth annual run and walk to benefit Open Door Resource Center, a Christian-based nonprofit that assists Wyandot County residents in need.
