Even with tough draw, Mohawk’s Draper aims high

SYCAMORE — Ever since Cole Draper finished last season as the state runner-up at 170 pounds in Division III, Mohawk coach Nate Lofay’s goal for him was a state championship this year. Even matching last year’s second-place finish will be a tall order based on Draper’s draw at the state tournament, which includes Mechanicsburg’s Kaleb Romero in the same quarter of the bracket.

Fellow junior Aidan Loveridge scored a pair of wins at 182 pounds and came up just shy of placing.

MANSFIELD — Noah Clary is headed back to state, and though it is unlikely any of his teammates will wrestle with him in Columbus next weekend, Upper Sandusky has made a mark on the area. Wauseon was the runaway winner, 207.5-132, over Ashland.

Vent scores 29 to help Rams hold off Wildcats

LIMA — Trailing by nine points midway through the third quarter, Kenton looked to be on the verge of falling away during its sectional final basketball contest with Upper Sandusky. The Wildcats, who led by one point at halftime, regained their footing, however, and pulled within a single point several times late in the game, before the No. 2 seed Rams finally hung on for a 68-67 victory at Lima Senior on Friday night.
