Hannah’s House continues mission to help parents, children transition

Three local businesses are sponsoring a one-time reunion of Fritz and the Kid on Jan. 30 to benefit Hannah’s House Supervised Visitation and Exchange Home, an Upper Sandusky-based nonprofit organization. The First Citizens National Bank, Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home and Hempy Water are the major sponsors for an evening featuring Fritz and the Kid with special guest and opener Big Red Deluxe.

CAREY — Carey Exempted Village Schools offered the year’s first public tours of the new school building site during a brisk Saturday morning. Tours were led by Carey High School Principal Peter Cole, Elementary Principal Tammy Wagner, Treasurer Karen Phillips and school board member Mark Armstrong, among other officials.

U.S. 23 Crash

U.S. 23 crash

An unidentified Carey man sustained life-threatening head injuries in a single-vehicle crash before sunrise this morning, according to Wyandot County Sheriff Mike Hetzel. A preliminary investigation revealed the man likely was traveling northbound on U.S. 23 near CH 42 after leaving the southbound rest stop when he went off the roadway.

Seniors on the Go plans trips for ’16

The Wyandot County Council on Aging will host a Passports and Pizza event beginning at noon Tuesday at Senior Connection as it prepares to offer its second full year of day trips and longer trips. A trip will be offered monthly beginning in the spring, with the slate of traveling this year including more extended trips, activities director Amy Gardner said.

Gusting winds lead to poor road conditions

Wyandot County Sheriff Mike Hetzel said this morning road conditions had improved from Tuesday, when the sheriff’s office stayed busy with minor accidents throughout the day. Gusting wind and additional snowfall led to poor road conditions in Wyandot County, with drifting snow on the roadways for much of the day and into the evening.

Release time religious education to be offered at USHS next year

Students at Upper Sandusky High School will have the choice of taking release time Bible education classes next school year after the school board unanimously approved a new policy during its meeting Monday evening. Representatives of WyandotCARES and WeCARE for Students visited the school board to present information about release time religious education in the school district.
