A local family is planning a festival in July to raise funds for parents affected by stillbirths, while also raising awareness about a common but isolating condition. Melissa and Scott Johnson, of Upper Sandusky, planned to welcome their first grandchild, Koda McKay Johnson, into the world in November.

Since October, the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office special response team has been meeting bi-monthly for two-hour training sessions at various buildings and offices in the county. Currently, the team is comprised of 10 members of law enforcement and is a joint effort between the WCSO and the Upper Sandusky and the Carey police departments, forming a multi-agency team.

For more than six months, 17 teams have been planning an annual event in Wyandot County. Although team members are various ages, both male and female and come from different backgrounds, what bonds this group together for the event is one thing — the desire to raise money for the fight against cancer.
