NEVADA — Although Tuesday morning started out cloudy with a chance of rain, it did not stop Mike Wheeler, youth from the Wyandot County summer youth work program and the three Wyandot County commissioners from donning shovels and pry bars and carrying stone to attempt to straighten up veteran’s headstones at Nevada Cemetery.
A rural Upper Sandusky couple visited city council Monday evening to express concern over a dangerous low-head dam that has been the site of three boating fatalities in the past two and a half years. Mike and Karen Gillen said they live near the problem area on the Sandusky River and wanted to know what will be done to warn canoers and kayakers about the low-head dam.
John McCallister knows football and more importantly, he loves it. McCallister, 66, of Upper Sandusky, has been involved with the game since he played in high school and college, along with a couple of stints as head coach before his true passion came to fruition — evaluating talent.

COLUMBUS — The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio on Wednesday approved the installation of mast-mounted flashing lights and roadway gates at rail crossings in Wyandot and Seneca counties, including at the location of an April 2014 crash that injured a Cloverdale man.
