Schmidt Machine Company announced this week it will sponsor a $1,000 national FFA scholarship for the 2015-16 scholarship year for an Upper Sandusky High School student. The scholarship, which is in cooperation with AGCO, is available through a program introduced in 2011 that provides more that 115 scholarships through more than 50 Massey Ferguson and Gleaner dealers across the United States.

January is National Radon Action Month, and the Wyandot County Health District is urging county residents to protect their health by testing their homes for radon gas. According to U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates, 21,000 Americans die from radon-related lung cancer each year.

CRESTLINE — The Crawford Park District will host a “Make an Animal With LEGOs” contest for LEGO builders ages 3-13. Participants must design and build an animal made entirely of LEGO bricks.

BUCYRUS — The Bucyrus Public Library will host clinical dietician Kyle Feasel and the Bucyrus YMCA’s Cheryl Haas for a program on healthy eating and exercise at 5 p.m. Jan. 14. The event is free and open to the public.

BUCYRUS — Local veteran John Shore will discuss the Honor Flight Network at 11 a.m. Jan. 16 at the Bucyrus Public Library. The national nonprofit organization honors America’s veterans by flying them to Washington, D.C., to see national memorials.

Jordan Alexis Karg, of Upper Sandusky, and Anthony Ryan Nugeness, of Springfield, recently announced their engagement and upcoming wedding.
