CANTON — A special license plate featuring the red, white and blue Lincoln Highway logo has been awarded to the Ohio Lincoln Highway Historic Byway by the Ohio General Assembly. The new license plates will include the words “America’s First Coast-to-Coast Road.”

FOREST — A family program on rocks and minerals is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Forest-Jackson Public Library. Attendees will have an opportunity to see the Langsdon Minerals and Rock Collection, a project of the Mercer County District Public Library in Celina.

The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on Sept. 10 and is correct as of that date: Pets reported as missing since the previous report that have not been found include a black and white female pit bull, a white and gray female pit bull, a female tan and white Jack Russell terrier mix and an older brown cocker spaniel.

Members of the Village Gardeners Garden Club recently visited the Toledo Botanical Garden, which dates back to 1964, when 20 acres of private land was donated to the city. The garden now extends more than 60 acres with different specialty gardens, including an herb garden, a perennial garden, a rose garden, a pioneer garden and Grand Allee of Sycamore Plane trees.
