CAREY — The Dorcas Carey Public Library will begin a new program, “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten,” beginning Sept. 21. In the program, parents are encouraged to read books from the library to their children, with a goal of reading 1,000 before each child starts kindergarten.

The event will begin at the Jerry McBride farm, located at 11312 CR 60, Dola, at 8:30 a.m. and will end at 1:30 p.m. with a complimentary lunch.

Lillian Stewart and Anthony Roby, both of Forest, are the parents of a girl, Sylphia Nichole Roby. She was born at 4:46 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital.

Amanda and Jared Thiel, of Upper Sandusky, are the parents of a boy, Easton Lee Thiel. He was born at 11:43 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015 at Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay.

It is with great sadness that our beloved John Van Der Laar died Sept. 3. Van Der Laar served on the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties for nine years.
