Ohio may become the first state in the Midwest to legalize both medicinal and recreational marijuana use. The proposed constitutional amendment to legalize marijuana for medical and recreational purposes will be on the November ballot this year.

BUCYRUS — The Bucyrus Public Library’s anime club will meet from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 26. The meeting will feature “Blue Exorcist.”

St. Peter’s School will host its annual open house from 5:30-7 p.m. Aug. 24 beginning with a meeting in the gym for a brief welcome and introduction to faculty and staff. Following the meeting, attendees may visit classrooms, drop off children’s school supplies and have hot dogs provided by the parent team.

BUCYRUS — The teen book club of the Bucyrus Public Library will meet from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday. The meeting will feature a discussion about the book “Maze Runner,” as well as a viewing of the newest film adaptation.

A lawn fete fundraiser is scheduled for 4:30-7 p.m. Aug. 22 at Community Christian Center, 10657 TH 122, Upper Sandusky. The event will benefit Open Door Resource Center.

Hannah’s House supervised visitation and exchange home, an Upper Sandusky-based nonprofit organization, will host an adult spelling bee fundraiser at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at the Star Theatre. The venue has been changed from the Upper Sandusky Knights of Columbus hall.

The Upper Sandusky Community Library has announced its activities for the month of August. The Knotty Hookers Crochet Group will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday to make hats, share skills and socialize.

As students head back to class, school zones will become congested with children and traffic. Its can be a dangerous and potentially deadly combination, according to a press release from AAA.

Worship services continue at the historic Old Mission Church in Upper Sandusky through the end of this month. Worship services are offered at 8 a.m. each Sunday.
