The American Red Cross will host a blood donation drive from 12 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Upper Sandusky Moose Lodge, 381 N. Warpole St. The Red Cross asks eligible donors to donate blood in August and help meet the constant need for blood products by patients.

CAREY — The 35th annual Carey Fest is set for Thursday through Saturday with the theme “Let’s Party.” There will be a wide variety of music throughout the event, including country, rock, jazz, folk, bluegrass and gospel.

August is Breastfeeding Awareness Month in Ohio and Aug. 1-7 is World Breastfeeding Week. Research suggests breastfeeding is a key modifiable factor for disease for both mothers and infants. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report Ohio’s 2014 breastfeeding initiation rate of 70.1 percent ranks 43rd in the nation.

KENTON — The Hardin County Genealogy Society will host a Family Pioneer Association workshop at 7 p.m. Aug. 13 at 211 W. Franklin St., Kenton. The workshop will offer a brief overview of the Pioneer Association of 1868 and the PFA.

SYCAMORE — Mohawk Local Schools will host orientation for all seventh- and eighth-grade students and their parents at 6 p.m. Aug. 17. The session will begin with a general meeting in the performing arts center.

The Bob Evans Restaurants in Upper Sandusky and Tiffin will sponsor a community fundraiser event in support of the Sandusky River Watershed Coalition from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Customers who eat at the restaurants Wednesday and who also present the event flier will have 15 percent of their total sales donated to the Sandusky River Watershed Coalition.

Fourteen members and one guest of the Village Gardeners Garden Club recently met at the Upper Sandusky Community Library. Mary Lee Minor of Bucyrus, a master gardener and past president of the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs, spoke on dividing perennials.

The 12th annual Party at the Park will take place from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Harrison Smith Park in Upper Sandusky. The free event is sponsored by the Wyandot County Youth Commission and the Salvation Army.
