The following report was prepared and submitted by the Wyandot County Humane Society on Sept. 3, 2015 and is correct as of that date: Pets reported as missing since the previous report that have not been found include an older neutered male Siamese cat, a neutered male redbone hound, a white calico spayed female cat, a brindle spayed female cat, a spayed female Maine coon cat, a brown and white female pit bull, a male Siamese cat, an older brown female cocker spaniel and an orange male chow-collie mix dog.

Julie and Wayne Pelter, of Nevada, recently announced the engagement of their daughter, Jana Pelter, to David Dlubak Jr., a son of Edie and David Dlubak Sr., of Upper Sandusky. The bride-to-be is a graduate of Ohio State University and is employed at Jeffrey Jewelry.

The Upper Sandusky Area Ministerial Association will conduct a special recognition of Wyandot County safety personnel at the 2015 Wyandot County Fair worship service. All law enforcement officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel are invited to attend the service at 7 p.m. Sept. 13 in the Masters’ Building.

Two more children have completed the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at the Mohawk Community Library. Mallory Brause (left), 5, and her brother, Garrett Brause, 1, started the program Sept. 29, 2014.

The Wyandot Tracers chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 21 in the lower level at the Upper Sandusky Community Library. Vicki Orians will present a program on compiling a family history cookbook.

FOSTORIA — St. John’s United Church of Christ will host its annual chicken barbecue from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at the church on Ohio 587 south of Fostoria. The menu includes one-quarter and half barbecued chicken, chicken and roast beef sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, chicken noodle soup and homemade pies.

A new Kiwanis Club is organizing in the Upper Sandusky area and organizers are actively seeking men and women to become part of the global organization of volunteers dedicated to “improving the world; one child, one community at a time.” The new Upper Sandusky Area Kiwanis Club will focus on service projects addressing a variety of community needs.

Labor Day is nearly here, which means it’s vacation time for many Ohioans. Each year, more and more pet owners take their dogs and cats on the road, but traveling can be a little trickier with a furry family member.
