A Wyandot County native has started her first business as an independent agent selling insurance and specializing in agricultural needs. Kayla Weaver, a 2006 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, received a bachelor’s degree in agricultural communications from Ohio State University.

The board of the Wyandot County Office of Economic Development recently met for its fourth bi-monthly meeting of 2015 at Vaughn Industries, Carey. WCOED Director Greg Moon provided an update on the progress of filling the 100,000-square-foot speculative building constructed by Vaughn Equity Services in the village of Carey.

John Caldwell has been named the director of materials management at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. Caldwell’s department orders all supplies and furnishings for the hospital, ranging from new stretchers to toner cartridges.

The weekly progress meeting on the restoration project at the Wyandot County Courthouse has been canceled for Wednesday. The next scheduled meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. July 22 at the Wyandot County Courthouse.

SYCAMORE — The Sycamore income tax committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

A new program has been implemented at Fairhaven Community aimed at making life a little more pleasant for patients experiencing dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Music & Memories has gained in popularity internationally since its inception in 2006.

The parking lot at Reineke Motors in Upper Sandusky has looked empty during times in the past few weeks, as a paving project recently was completed.

A manufacturing facility that currently sits vacant in the city of Upper Sandusky is on the market for interested buyers. The commercial property located at 112 River St. has been empty since fall of last year, said Jan Miller, a representative of Bradley Corp. who led a tour and answered questions at a public open house earlier this month.

CINCINNATI — Verizon Wireless has completed a network enhancement in northern Ohio, including Wyandot County, according to a press release from the Cincinnati-based company.
