CAREY — Officials from throughout Wyandot County heard from Amber Wertman, executive director of United Way of Marion and Wyandot counties, during a recent mayor’s breakfast at Splinter’s Cafe in Carey. The breakfast had been organized by the late Carey mayor, Steven Smalley, before Smalley died June 17.

The Upper Sandusky Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for the Wyandot County Fair Business Showcase. Tables are available for $25 for Chamber members or $35 for non-Chamber members.

CAREY — Vendors now may reserve a spot for the annual Carey Business Showcase, organized by the Carey Area Chamber of Commerce. The event will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Waterworks Park main pavilion.

SYCAMORE — The Mohawk Local Schools Board of Education will meet in special session at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Mohawk Community Center to establish goals for the 2016-17 school year. The meeting will be a work session and no action will be taken.

Tiffany Lowery-Kear is looking to provide a cheap, convenient stop for shoppers in downtown Upper Sandusky are the surrounding area. Tuesday, she celebrated the recent opening of her dollar store at 116 W. Johnson St. with a ribbon cutting sponsored by the Upper Sandusky Area Chamber of Commerce.

TIFFIN — The North Central Electric Cooperative general manager took aim at President Obama’s Clean Power Plan at its annual meeting June 14 at the Seneca County Fairgrounds. General manager Markus Bryant said the cooperative’s mission is to provide reliable electric service, a superior customer experience and innovative energy solutions.

The Wyandot County Office of Economic Development, Upper Sandusky Area Chamber of Commerce, Small Business Administration and Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Sandusky, Seneca and Wyandot counties will present a Small Business and Entrepreneur Development Fair.
