Organic producers able to apply for reimbursements with FSA

Organic Producers and Handlers May Apply for Certification Cost Share Reimbursements; Expanded Eligibility for Transition and State Certification Cost As of March 20, organic producers and handlers are able to visit more than 2,100 USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices to apply for federal reimbursement to assist with the cost of receiving and maintaining organic or transitional certification.

USDA offers disaster assistance to farmers in Wyandot County

The USDA recently designated Crawford, Marion and Seneca counties as primary natural disaster areas due to losses and damages caused by drought that occurred from June 1 through Oct. 4. Farmers in Delaware, Hancock, Hardin, Huron, Morrow, Richland, Sandusky, Union, Wood and Wyandot counties also qualify for natural disaster assistance because their counties are contiguous.

Morehart recognized by Erie Basin RCD Council for service as president

Joyce Morehart recently was recognized by the Erie Basin Resource Conservation & Development Council for her service as president in 2007-2008. She currently serves as a council member representing Wyandot County along with current Wyandot County Commissioner Bill Clinger, at large member Don Schilling, and Wyandot Soil & Water Conservation District Supervisor Larry Passet.

Wyandot FSA to celebrate local production on National Ag Day

National Agriculture Day is today and is a day designated each year by the Agriculture Council of America to celebrate the accomplishments of agriculture. Wyandot County Farm Service Agency joins the council in recognizing farmers and ranchers for their contributions to the nation’s quality of life. This year’s theme is Agriculture: Food for Life.
