The Ohio Department of Agriculture and Farm Service Agency county offices now offer farmers and producers the opportunity to receive notifications from their county office through text messages on their cellphones. Whether producers are in the field, or on a tractor, this service enables FSA customers and stakeholders to receive notifications while on the go.

CAREY — Carey FFA President Carley Coppler made history Saturday by becoming the first known Carey FFA member to qualify to compete at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis in October after winning her event at the state competition. Coppler previously made history by becoming the first Carey FFA member to reach the state competition level all four years of her high school career.

The Farm Service Agency makes loans to youth to establish and operate income-producing projects in connection with 4-H clubs, FFA and other agricultural groups. Projects must be planned and operated with the help of the organization adviser, produce sufficient income to repay the loan and provide the youth with practical business and educational experience.

Orders are being taken for Wyandot County Soil and Water Conservation District’s 49th annual tree seedling sale. Orders will be received until Wednesday or until the species are sold out.

Farm Bureau leaders also met with Ohio House members, as the representatives continue to explore pathways forward for Current Agricultural Use Value reform.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — After a year of hard work, the Riverdale FFA sent numerous books, degrees, and awards to the regional evaluation. Chapter secretary Cara Pauley, treasurer Breanah Shane and reporter Carrol Pauley all received gold ratings on their officer books.
