The Pipe Town 4-H club recently elected Curran McKain to serve as president during the upcoming year. McKain was selected during a March meeting of the club at adviser Joy Bils’ residence.

MARION — The bright yellow aircraft in the center of the hangar was the center of attention at a recent open house at the Marion Municipal Airport. It also was a symbol of opportunity for two neighbors. For one, it meant continuing to chase a life-long passion; for the other, the growth of a steady business operation.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale FFA chapter is asking area farmers to nominate it for a $10,000 grant through America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education as it plans to install and sustain a hoop greenhouse. America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, gives rural public school districts the opportunity to compete for grants of $10,000 or $25,000 for science and math programs.

According to the Chapman University Survey on American Fears, the fear of public speaking is America’s biggest phobia. FFA members learn to overcome that fear through participation in various public speaking career development events.

The Wyandot County chapter of Pheasants Forever will host its annual banquet beginning at 5:30 p.m. March 19 at the Elks Lodge in Upper Sandusky. The banquet will include raffles, prizes and a benefit auction.

TIFFIN — An in-depth, on-farm workshop featuring leading soil and cover crop experts will provide farmers looking to successfully manage their soil health with practical information they can implement on their farms this season.

The Wyandot Farm Service Agency County Committee has named Deborah Rellinger of Carey as COC adviser. Advisors play an important role by providing diverse viewpoints and by representing the interests of minorities and women in decisions made by county committees, according to a press release from the FSA.

A Bob Evans community fundraiser to benefit the Sandusky River Watershed Coalition will take place from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. March 17 at the Tiffin, Fostoria, Upper Sandusky, Fremont and Bucyrus Bob Evans restaurants. Those who present the event flier will have 15 percent of their sales donated to the watershed coalition by Bob Evans.
