ODNR shares changes to hunting season

COLUMBUS — Hunters will have their first opportunity to pursue white-tailed deer when archery season opens Sept. 26, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Deer hunters should be aware of certain changes when purchasing permits before heading into the field this year.

Center for water quality to host NTT workshop

TIFFIN — A recent two-day workshop concluded at Heidelberg University’s National Center for Water Quality Research lab in Tiffin. The event included an explanation of recent developments to the Nutrient Tracking Tool that has been used in many watersheds across the country by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Survey looks at trout

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife is asking trout anglers to take part in a survey to help gather opinions, attitudes and preferences regarding Ohio’s Lake Erie and its tributaries steelhead, small reservoir and lake “catchable” put-take rainbow trout and stream brown trout fisheries.

NFU encourages USDA to expand mediation program

WASHINGTON — National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson recently encouraged the U.S. Department of Agriculture to prepare for increased economic instability and financial stress for American family farmers and ranchers through the USDA Certified Agricultural Mediation Program.

The Wyandot Soil and Water Conservation District hosted its 67th annual meeting Thursday. Wyandot SWCD board of supervisors chairman Jeff Bowen, who was re-elected to a second term during the meeting, welcomed those who gathered in the Masters’ Building at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds.
