Upper, Carey school income taxes renewed Voters on Tuesday chose to renew income taxes for both the Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School District and the Carey Exempted Village School District. The five-year, 1.25 percent income tax in Upper Sandusky passed with an unofficial vote total of 2,815 votes for (65.1 percent) and 1,510 votes against across Wyandot, Marion and Seneca counties. Renewals around Wyandot County all pass Wyandot County voters passed a pair of levies Tuesday in support of the Wyandot County Council on Aging and the Wyandot County Board of Health while three other local levies also passed. The Council on Aging had a five-year, .8-mill levy on the ballot and it passed by 75 percent. Read More
Voters approve library’s levy The Upper Sandusky Community Library had a 1.4-mill renewal levy on the ballot Tuesday for property owners in the Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School District. Voters in Wyandot County supported the library by a significant margin, passing the levy with 2,975 votes for the tax levy and 1,269 votes against the levy. Read More

Tree windbreak program available BUCYRUS — The Northwest Ohio Windbreak Program is a great opportunity for landowners to establish tree windbreaks in the county to help reduce soil erosion, control drifting snow and improve wildlife habitat. City approves Home for the Holidays 5K The Upper Sandusky Safety Committee approved the Home for the Holidays 5K race during its regularly scheduled meeting Monday. Elaine Tschanen, representing Wyandot County 4-H camp counselors, brought maps of the planned route for the 5K race, which would begin near Johnson Street and end at the old EMS building downtown.
