Wyandot County DD budget on target this year

Several upcoming events were discussed during Thursday’s meeting of the Wyandot County Board of Developmental Disabilities. In the financial report, business manager Amy Traxler said the parking lot and striping had been paid for recently and 67.59 percent of the budget had been spent through 75 percent of the year and everything was on track.

Eighth grade students at Upper Sandusky’s Union School recently participated in a “Pick me for D.C.” essay contest for an opportunity to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington Cemetery during the upcoming eighth grade trip to Gettysburg and Washington, D.C.

Upper Sandusky takes 10th in forestry

10th in state featured

Earlier this month the Upper Sandusky FFA took 10th place as a team in the State Forestry Career Development Event held at Hocking College in Nelsonville. The Forestry CDE involves many different activities related to the forest and forest products industry in Ohio that vary from year to year.

Carey FFA takes part in soil judging competition

Urban soil judging

CAREY — Members of the Carey FFA chapter recently participated in the County Soils Career Development Event held southeast of Upper Sandusky. In this competition, students textured different layers of the soil to determine their texture, viewed the soil profile in pits to find traits of the soil, and determined the slope of the land.
