Upper service committee talks about sidewalks

The Upper Sandusky Service Committee explained new sidewalk decisions during its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday. Upper Sandusky resident and Crane Township Trustee Tom Martin asked the committee how new sidewalks are decided because new sidewalks are being installed near the River’s Edge development property and by Brookview Lane.

The Riverdale-Van Buren football game was postponed to Saturday due to the death of Riverdale High School senior cheerleader/band member Katelyn Martin, who was killed in an auto accident on Friday morning.

Fatal accident

A Riverdale student was killed Friday morning in a single vehicle accident on Ohio 293/CH 330 near TH 87 in Wyandot County. The Wyandot County Sheriff’s report says deputies were dispatched to the scene at 9:43 a.m. along with Upper Sandusky EMS, Jaws and the Wharton-Richland Fire Department and Lifeflight.

Massara returns to St. Peter as teacher

St. Peter School in Upper Sandusky has one new teacher this year as Anna Massara steps in to teach third grade while also teaching fourth grade math. Massara, the youngest sister of former DC-U staff writers Patrick and James Massara, is a St. Peter School alumna as well as a 2014 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School.

Safety building phone lines to be down early on Monday

The Upper Sandusky Safety Building will undergo a software update for its business phone lines from 3-5 a.m. Monday morning. All business phone lines for the Upper Sandusky Police Department and Upper Sandusky Fire Department will be unreachable during that time period.
