CAREY — Our Lady of Consolation School in Carey has introduced two new educators this year, both who have transferred into education after beginning their careers in other fields. Christina Hohman is the new librarian/media specialist, while Holly Frey is the school’s new preschool teacher.

Recently, The Daily Chief-Union had a front page article about our U.S. representative, Bob Latta, and talked about how he met with Kalmbach Feeds CEO Paul Kalmbach and his Republican friendly organization, the National Association of Manufacturers in Wyandot County.

Preparations for the upcoming Veterans Day events at the 2018 Wyandot County Fair were discussed at Wednesday’s meeting of the Wyandot County Veterans Service Commission. Wyandot County Veterans Service Officer Theresa Miller said she had 17 kids coming from Mohawk Local Schools and two volunteers from Honor Flight who will help the morning of Veterans Day at the fair on Sept. 11 with setting up tables, putting together gift bags among other things.

Some unique artwork now decorates the Merchants Building at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds. Local artist Dick Eyestone was commissioned to design an 8-foot-by-8-foot barn quilt for the Wyandot County Fair this year.

The new owners of Route 30 Harley-Davidson in Upper Sandusky are hoping to bring a family-friendly environment to the motorcycle dealership. Mandie and Joe Bayliff, of Dunkirk, closed on the dealership formerly known as Thiel’s Wheels Harley-Davidson on Aug. 1 and they held a big three-day Backyard BBQ event this past weekend to introduce themselves to the community.

Danielle Kreais, CPNP-PC, joined the staff at Wyandot Memorial Hospital to care for children from newborn through age 17. The Wyandot County native — formerly Danielle Boes — has extensive experience in pediatrics, both as a certified pediatric nurse practitioner-primary care and as a registered nurse.

Open Door Resource Center Executive Director Scott Moore accepted a check recently from Brian Webb of the Danny Garza Foundation.

SYCAMORE — Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department Chief Rodney Clinger announced the department had received three local grants during the village council meeting on Tuesday. Clinger reported the department received $7,900 from the Zenobia Shriners for a new Thermal Imaging Camera.

The Carey FFA chapter held its annual officer retreat over the summer in Loudonville. All officers were able to attend the retreat. During the three-day retreat, the officers participated in leadership and team building activities.
