Christopher Halasy, M.D., MBA, has opened a family medicine practice at Wyandot Memorial Hospital to care for patients of all ages. Dr. Halasy has extensive experience and most recently worked in a primary care clinic in Galion.

Baker gets New York Life honor

COLUMBUS — Chad S. Baker has been named a member of the 2018 Chairman’s Council of New York Life today. Members of the Chairman’s Council rank in the top 3 percent of New York Life’s sales force of more than 12,000 licensed agents in sales achievement.

Gottfried joins Sycamore Medical

Certified Nurse Practitioner Robin Gottfried has joined Sycamore Medical Associates and is accepting new patients of all ages. Gottfried moved her practice from Upper Sandusky to Sycamore, where she joins Dr. Scott Cisar and Certified Nurse Practitioner Nikki Wolfe.

Man biking across country to raise PTSD awareness

Texas Triker

A Texas man who is biking to all four corners of the United States made a pit stop in Upper Sandusky on Monday. Gregory Hook, also known as the Texas Triker, began his journey on April 4, 2018, in Victoria, Texas, and has traveled 6,400 miles thus far while raising money to support veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Awards, elections and family fun highlighted the Wyandot County Farm Bureau’s 2018 annual meeting held recently at Ellis Lake. Continuing President Kayla Weaver presided over elections, resulting in two new members for the board of trustees, Travis Kimmel and Ethan Smalley, as well as Nate Bair and W. Kyle Brown being elected as delegates for next year’s Ohio Farm Bureau annual meeting.

Sycamore Fire receives grant

SYCAMORE — The Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department received a grant for first responders from a Seneca County charity during its meeting on Monday. The non-profit Just for Kids of Seneca County donated $1,700 to the Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department for the purchase of body armor vests, intended to be used during active shooter events as well as other situations which often involve children being needless victims.

Upper BOE looking at major projects

The Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School District has some big projects looming. The school board discussed future projects that includes resurfacing the track and tennis courts and replacing the boiler at East Elementary. Treasurer Nate Lynch said a new track likely would be financed for between $100,000 and $125,000 per year over the course of 10 years.

Carey Council votes to utilize Findlay for tax collection

CAREY — Carey Village Council on Monday approved an ordinance authorizing and approving Mayor Jennifer Rathburn to enter into a collection services agreement with the city of Findlay Income Tax Administrator Andrew Thomas to allow Thomas to administer, enforce and collect taxes levied by Carey in accordance with two ordinances.
