Carey approves new ordinance for traffic flow CAREY — In a special meeting on Thursday, Carey Village Council voted to place two barricades on the “S” curve on Blue Devil Parkway that travels through Memorial Park. The motion was approved following an unanimous vote to rescind a previously approved motion to turn the road known as Blue Devil Parkway — the road traveling from Worrello Street through Memorial Park — into a one-way street during school hours — one hour before the start of school to an hour after school — and barricade the northeast entrance/exit to the school parking lot. Wynford building plans nearly done BUCYRUS — Wynford Superintendent Fred Fox reported the school is 90 percent done with building plans and a final decision on square footage has been decided at the board of education meeting Thursday. Fox said there will be over 93,000 square feet in new construction for the new school building. Read More

Upper native elected OHAAA president An Upper Sandusky native recently earned a prestigious honor when she was elected president of the Ohio Academic Advising Association. Lydia Rall, a 2004 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, is the senior academic adviser at the Columbus College of Art and Design and has worked there for six years. Read More

Vigil of the Assumption The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey hosted the annual novena, culminating with the Vigil of Assumption Tuesday night, the largest yearly event at the Shrine. Candlelight procession The statue of Our Lady of Consolation was delivered to Shrine Park in Carey Tuesday night in a candlelight procession with Bishop Daniel Thomas of the Diocese of Toledo, who performed a Mass there. People from all around the world travel to Carey for the annual event in a pilgrimage. Read More
Progress being made on splash pad Parks Director Keith Niederkohr gave an update on the Bicentennial Park splash pad at Monday’s Upper Sandusky park board meeting. Niederkohr said the sewer and water lines are installed for the splash pad, although it still needs electric run to it. Read More
