Wyandot County 4-H members were judged for the 2018 animal and garden projects Saturday inside the Arena at the Wyandot County Fairgrounds. Over 200 youth with well over 200 animal projects including horse, rabbit, poultry, goat, sheep, swine, dairy, beef and garden were judged in the biggest pre-fair event.

Wyandot County resident receives OEC scholarship

MARYSVILLE — The Ohio State Fair is the summer’s highlight for many youth livestock exhibitors, and this summer was no exception for Ohio’s youth who won top honors at the Ohio State Fair from July 25 through Aug. 5. The Ohio Expositions Commission awards scholarships to junior beef exhibitors looking to further their education.

Clady memorial bench dedicated

SYCAMORE — A memorial bench was dedicated in a ceremony for former Sycamore Police officer William “Bill” Clady on Monday in downtown Sycamore. Clady served the village of Sycamore from 1979 until his retirement in 2003. He died Feb. 1, 2017, at age 73.

Carey appoints members for traffic committee

CAREY — Carey Exempted Village School District Board of Education members on Monday approved a motion to appoint board members Greg McCartney and Matt Stombaugh to a joint traffic committee. The joint traffic committee will discuss the best way to address traffic flow, an often-discussed topic within the village of Carey, with members of the Carey Village Council.

Schuler to be coroner

Wyandot County Coroner Dr. Joseph Sberna, 65, died at his home on Sunday, setting forth a search for his temporary replacement. The Wyandot County Board of Commissioners met Monday in adjourned regular session.

Nevada looks at water options

NEVADA — The village of Nevada is considering all of its options when it comes to maintaining water service to the village despite an aging system. Officials said at Monday night’s council meeting they have had discussions with the city of Bucyrus to see how much it would cost to have water piped to the village, but even if that were to be the best option, Nevada still would need to replace its 83-year-old water tower.

Eden Twp holds monument dedication

NEVADA — A dedication ceremony was held Saturday morning at the Eden Township House in rural Nevada for the Pieces of History Monument, which was completed within the last year. It was called Pieces of History because the final monument included a brass bell from Eden Chapel Church, a stone from the one-room Maple Grove School, a 1931 board of education plaque with a map of all the one-room Eden Township schools and stones from the exterior of Eden School.

Findlay held its annual Flag City BalloonFest from Friday to Sunday at Emory Adams Park. Forty different hot air balloon pilots and their teams were in attendance from as far away as Las Vegas and Florida.
