BUCYRUS — The Crawford Soil and Water Conservation District recently held its 73rd annual meeting at Pickwick Place. One of the main events at the meeting is the SWCD board of supervisor’s election. Paul E. Hartschuh was elected to the Crawford SWCD Board of Supervisors for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — After hearing its strategic plan, Riverdale Superintendent Jeff Young said the Ohio Department of Education is planning to give more control back to the districts. During his report to the school board at its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Young said the ODE’s premise is essentially to say “This is what we want to see done with what children learn, but how you go about it is up to you.”

SYCAMORE — A Sycamore man was arrested Saturday morning after allegedly stealing a truck following an altercation in a bar. The Wyandot County Sheriff’s report states Thomas E. Simmons, Sycamore, had been kicked out of the Sycamore Tavern late Friday night following an altercation at the pool table.
Tonight’s meeting of the What’s Cookin’? cookbook discussion group at the Upper Sandusky Community Library has been canceled due to flooding over the weekend from a water main break.
Dear editor, There have been several fatalities on the Sandusky River over the past several years. I reached out to Rep. Riordan McClain, the Upper Sandusky mayor, the Wyandot County commissioners and Gov. Kasich’s office about looking for solutions. Mike Shanaberger in 2017, Billy and Lewis Zornes in 2015, died, and as I understand, there was another fatality in 2013. …
