As a lifelong Republican, I regularly have voted for our outstanding candidates running for office. But I cannot support Bob Latta. When Latta voted to replace Obamacare, knowing the Congressional Budget Office forecast a 25 percent increase for individuals, including agriculture and small business, I was angry.
I have been looking forward to fall — for cooler temperatures and for cooler heads to prevail! We have a chance to elect members to Congress who will fight for our ailing democracy instead of meekly voting the party line and hiding from constituents who have legitimate questions and real concerns.
An Upper Sandusky man was sentenced to nearly five years in prison for marijuana cultivation and Medicaid fraud Thursday afternoon in the Wyandot County Courthouse. William S. Rimmer appeared for sentencing Thursday after pleading guilty to marijuana cultivation and Medicaid fraud, second and fifth degree felonies.
A fire occurred on the 100 block of North Fifth Street in downtown Upper Sandusky on Thursday afternoon. The Upper Sandusky Fire Department was able to extinguish the blaze in the back of the building after arriving within six minutes of being alerted by the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office.
Former President Obama said recently that “the biggest threat to democracy is indifference.” According to the web, indifference is a noun meaning lack of interest, concern or sympathy.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude and thanks to the Wyandot County Fair Board, exhibitors, parents and volunteers of the Wyandot County Fair for making my first year as the fair veterinarian successful. As a previous Junior Fair exhibitor for many years, I was honored to come home and serve my fair and home county.
The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties firmly believes that nonviolent individuals with a substance use disorder are better served through treatment instead of incarceration. This is particularly true for marginalized populations who are overrepresented in Ohio’s prisons and often go unserved.

CLYDE — Roy Rivers will perform as John Denver at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Clyde High School auditorium at 1015 Race St., Clyde. He will perform some of Denver’s greatest hits such as “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” “Rocky Mountain High,” “Sunshine on My Shoulders,” “Annie’s Song,” “Sweet Surrender” and “Thank God I’m a Country Boy.”
