MARSEILLES — A recycling drive is scheduled from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Marseilles Park. Aluminum cans, steel cans, clear and colored glass, newspapers, magazines, plastic food containers, cardboard and chipboard will be accepted.

Dave Bastel stepped up to the No. 1 tee box just outside the clubhouse at Lincoln Hills Golf Club on Sunday with an 8-iron. The longtime club owner was the first to shoot on one of four new holes that were premiered during a special 90th anniversary tournament Sunday.

Beth Montgomery has been named the new assisted living director at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky. Montgomery recently completed the Certified Executive for Assisted Living (CEAL) and has passed the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) Residential Care/Assisted Living Administrators Examination to earn the CEAL designation.

The Echocardiography Laboratories at Blanchard Valley Hospital (BVH) and Bluffton Hospital have been reaccredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). The BVH and Bluffton echo labs perform echocardiograms, a non-invasive test used to assess different areas of the heart and can detect heart disease or signs of serious conditions.

DELAWARE — You’ve likely heard of the Kentucky Derby, but what about the Little Brown Jug? Harness horse racing has its own Triple Crown, and it’s capped off by the prestigious Little Brown Jug, a race for 3-year-old pacing standardbreds hosted at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Delaware, Ohio.

A deputy transported Kristina Halm from the Crawford County Jail to the Wyandot County Jail the evening of Aug. 6. Michael D. Krieger, Centerville, was picked up the morning of Aug. 7 from the Shelby County Jail on a bench warrant out of Upper Sandusky Municipal Court for failure to comply with a court order.

The National FFA Organization awarded a $5,000 Georgia M. Hellberg Memorial Scholarship to Annika Gerlach of the Wynford FFA. The scholarship is sponsored by the Georgia M. Hellberg Memorial Fund.

COLUMBUS — Greg and Rose Hartschuh of Sycamore have been named winners of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s 2017 Excellence in Agriculture Award. The award recognizes successful young agricultural professionals who are actively contributing and growing through their involvement with Farm Bureau and agriculture.
