Rathburn sworn in as Carey mayor Jennifer Rathburn is the new mayor of Carey. Wyandot County Common Pleas Court Judge Kate Aubry swore in Rathburn on Friday. She is the village’s first female mayor and fourth in the last year. The first issue she will face is prayer at council meetings. Read More
Former mayor Getz explains why he didn’t report threats to police CAREY — Former Carey Mayor Armand Getz said he made law enforcement officials aware of a threat to the village, but he chose not to file a report. While reading his resignation letter during a council meeting March 20, Getz said he received a threat “that would have a very real implication to the health, safety and welfare of the village of Carey.” He declined to reveal what the threat was. Bellevue woman pleads guilty to Dec. 11 burglary at Carey home A Bellevue woman pleaded guilty to a reduced burglary charge Friday as part of a plea deal in Wyandot County Common Pleas Court. Kristina L. Halm, 23, admitted to a third-degree complicity to burglary charge for her role in a burglary that took place in the 9000 block of TH 18 east of Carey on Dec. 11. Read More
Curbside lanes in downtown Upper now for golf carts only Wyandot County and Upper Sandusky law enforcement officials disagree about whether golf carts should be driven on the street with cars, and it may hit drivers in their wallets. Sheriff Mike Hetzel said deputies will ticket drivers and immediately tow all golf carts they see driving on Upper Sandusky streets. Violators will face a $100 fine. Read More
