National Agriculture Day is today and is a day designated each year by the Agriculture Council of America to celebrate the accomplishments of agriculture. Wyandot County Farm Service Agency joins the council in recognizing farmers and ranchers for their contributions to the nation’s quality of life. This year’s theme is Agriculture: Food for Life.

Lilly Payton, 7, of Upper Sandusky, won first place in the tiny-level individual competition and won her division among all tiny-level competitors at the 2017 AmeriCheer and AmeriDance International Competition during the weekend at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Kissimmee, Florida.

Upper Sandusky Police Department Jeremy A. Clary, Upper Sandusky, was cited for driving under suspension on South Seventh Street the night of March 7.

Deputies searched a residence in the 1400 block of Ohio 231, Nevada, the afternoon of March 13 after a woman reported coming home and hearing footsteps upstairs. An intruder was not found.

CAREY — March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in Wyandot County. Each year, the county Board of Developmental Disabilities sets up a business or community leader with a simulated disability experience in an effort to raise awareness. Carey Area Chamber of Commerce Director Cassie Carlson spent Friday morning doing her job in a wheelchair.

A construction crew is expected to finish hooking up new residential sewer lines in the 100 block of North Seventh Street by Monday. Workers then will move to the 200 block of North Seventh, between Walker and Finley streets. The blocks will be closed during construction hours.        

Lu A. Frisch, Upper Sandusky, charged by the state with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct, amended plea to no contest, finding deferred on conditions.
