Council on Aging adds more vans as transportation requests increase

New wheels

Wyandot County Council on Aging has added two new vans to its fleet to accommodate the growing number of senior citizens requesting rides through the agency. The Council on Aging recently purchased two 2016 Dodge Caravans for $21,600 apiece, bringing the fleet to a total of 14 vans — nine handicap-accessible vans for transportation and five vans for meal delivery.

Farm Service Agency youth ag education loan applications available

The Farm Service Agency makes loans to youth to establish and operate income-producing projects in connection with 4-H clubs, FFA and other agricultural groups. Projects must be planned and operated with the help of the organization adviser, produce sufficient income to repay the loan and provide the youth with practical business and educational experience.

County suicide, drug use stats released

Members of the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board released data from the past five years during a meeting with the Wyandot County Board of Commissioners on Monday. The health board, which also serves Sandusky and Seneca counties, released data on suicide deaths, drug overdose deaths and drug misuse totals.

Riverdale officials discuss sign problems

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The problems surrounding the digital sign at Riverdale School may soon be resolved. Since the sign’s installation in May, the district has dealt with multiple cases of sections of the sign blacking out, sometimes with an entire side not working.

Veronica Brodman puts the sugary final touches on dozens of paczkis this morning at Dough-Si-Dough in Upper Sandusky. Doughnut maker Amanda McLaughlin whipped up more than 1,500 of the filled pastries, and an additional five staffers came in to help fill orders for the Fat Tuesday tradition.
