Carey SB approves paying for half of road improvements CAREY — The Carey Exempted Village Schools Board of Education approved a 50-50 split of the cost to improvements to the street connecting the school’s north parking lot to Worrello Park during a regular meeting Monday. The village of Carey recently facilitated at its own expense the construction of two new drives from the school’s north parking lot to the parking lot at the south end of the park, which addressed a traffic problem that had developed early in the school year. County law enforcement participate in Rx take back The Upper Sandusky and Carey police departments and the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office again will participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 22. Operation Medicine Cabinet and other collection programs protect children and water and food supplies and decrease prescription drug abuse by making it easier for residents to properly dispose of unused or expired medication, according to a press release about the event. CSX road closures start CSX Railroad will resurface the roadway at several railroad crossings in Wyandot County this week. Road closures were set to begin Monday on CH 57, CH 47, CH 42, CH 4, TH 5 and Elm Hill Road (TH 98), as well as on Wyandot Avenue and Johnson and O’Donnell Streets in Upper Sandusky. Read More

Sheriff’s deputies make arrests, deal with escaped dogs David W. Owen, Marion, was picked up at Ross Correctional Institute, Chillicothe, and transported to Wyandot County Common Pleas Court for a judicial release hearing the morning of Aug. 15. A deputy responded to a loose dog call in Nevada the afternoon of Aug. 15. The dog was taken to the Wyandot County Humane Society but escaped upon arrival. Read More
