Ohio Northern University orchestras to perform

ADA — The Ohio Northern University Wind Orchestra will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14 in the university’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts. The Wind Orchestra, under the direction of Thomas A. Hunt, Ph.D., will perform a program of standard literature for winds and percussion, including works from Percy Grainger, Gustav Holst, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Samuel Barber and John Williams.

‘Ugly Duckling’ puppet and dance show to be held in Findlay

FINDLAY — The Arts Partnership presents “Lightwire Theater in The Ugly Duckling,” an electroluminescent puppet and dance show at 7 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Marathon Center for the Performing Arts in Findlay. In an age when technology seems to provide many distractions, Lightwire Theater brings together the classic tale of the “The Ugly Duckling” to the modern stage.

The mayor of Upper Sandusky shared a message about Ram pride and Ram family during a pep rally Wednesday night at the Upper Sandusky High School football stadium. After the introduction of all fall sports teams, songs by the USHS marching band, majorette and flag corps, cheers from the cheerleading squad and a game for the 2016 homecoming court, Mayor Scott Washburn took center stage to pump up students, parents and spectators alike with his message of hope and unity.
