Crystal Smith and Greg Palmer won two open seats on Nevada Village Council during Tuesday’s general election, according to unofficial results from the Wyandot County Board of Elections. With four candidates in competition, Smith was the top vote-getter with 98, while Palmer was second with 86.

Five of the county’s 27 township-level races in Tuesday’s election were contested, including one race for fiscal officer and four races for trustee. In Antrim Township, newcomer Jeremy Mouser took more than almost 60 percent of the vote with 246 ballots cast for him among the 413 in the race.

HARPSTER — Harpster voters elected one new council member and approved the renewal of two operating levies in the village during Tuesday’s general election. Incumbent Megan Liane Watterson and Kim M. Heidenreich were the top vote-getters in the three-person council race.

The city of Upper Sandusky’s part-time treasurer has retired after nearly 50 years of service. Jerry Elchert, who also works at The First Citizens National Bank, has been treasurer for the city for 47 years, working under former mayors Oscar Weiker (1968-75), Kenneth Richardson (1976-83 and 1992-2008) and Don Hall (1984-91).
