Two elected to seats on Nevada Council

Crystal Smith and Greg Palmer won two open seats on Nevada Village Council during Tuesday’s general election, according to unofficial results from the Wyandot County Board of Elections. With four candidates in competition, Smith was the top vote-getter with 98, while Palmer was second with 86.

The Wyandot County Board of Commissioners joined the mayors of Carey and Upper Sandusky on Monday morning to recognize National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. November is set aside annually to recognize those who work with hospice services across the U.S., Hospice of Wyandot County Director Cathy Browne said.

Upper treasurer announces retirement after 47 years of service

The city of Upper Sandusky’s part-time treasurer has retired after nearly 50 years of service. Jerry Elchert, who also works at The First Citizens National Bank, has been treasurer for the city for 47 years, working under former mayors Oscar Weiker (1968-75), Kenneth Richardson (1976-83 and 1992-2008) and Don Hall (1984-91).

Vets invited to special program
