ATTICA — North Central Electric Cooperative will conduct a tour of its coal-fired generating plant along the Ohio River on Sept. 30. The all-day trip is open to cooperative members.

SYCAMORE — Sycamore is adding a third ambulance to its fire and emergency medical services squad fleet. During its regular meeting Monday, the village council approved separate resolutions to accept a new 2015 Ford E4-50 ambulance from the Wyandot County Board of Commissioners and to purchase the 2006 one it will be replacing for the trade-in value of $11,000.

As the city continues preparations to come into compliance with a new state law related to municipal income tax, Upper Sandusky City Council on Tuesday heard the first reading of an ordinance to make the changes. The first reading was approved by a vote of 6-1, with Councilman Tom Shumaker voting against the move.

The Upper Sandusky service committee on Tuesday approved changes to its upcoming fall cleanup, which is scheduled for Sept. 28 to Oct. 2. Streets supervisor Allen Boes said the city offers pickup and disposal of mattresses for $12 each during regular trash pickup and workers use their discretion, depending on the size of the item, on how much extra to charge for couches and other large furniture.

The city of Upper Sandusky has not yet received its permit to install for a sewer separation project that originally was planned to begin in August, wastewater treatment plant supervisor Aaron Putnam reported during Tuesday’s service committee meeting. Plans were submitted in May to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency for the $4.5-$5 million project, city officials said.

MARSEILLES — The village of Marseilles is working through an ongoing telephone problem and is hoping AEP Ohio will investigate a problem with electrical voltage drops that have been occurring, according to Tuesday’s meeting minutes submitted by council.

A resident of the 400 block of North Sandusky Avenue reported the morning of July 31 someone was taking items off the property without permission. Contact was made with a juvenile suspect, who returned the items.

A semitrailer driver was transported to Wyandot Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning on U.S. 30 east of U.S. 23. Jacob M. Bland, 24, of King George, Vermont, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 30 about 100 feet east of the U.S. 23 interchange at 10:11 a.m. when he went off the right side of the roadway and drove through several pieces of guardrail and down an embankment, according to a report by the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office.

MANASSAS, Va. — Mohawk High School class of 1975 graduate Kirby Sniffen was promoted to captain of the U.S. Coast Guard on Sept. 1. Sniffen’s more than 30-year career has taken him from an enlisted E-1 in June 1976 to Captain 0-6 and from the Presidential Honor Guard to Chief of Personnel Division Atlantic Area.
