Financials of Wynford SD presented

BUCYRUS — Wynford Local School District treasurer Leesa Smith said finances are looking good as she presented the district’s five-year forecast during Monday night’s board of education meeting. Smith said the district expects to bring in $403,397 more than it spends in fiscal year 2016, increasing its carryover to more than $1 million.

Upper Sandusky FFA competes in forestry CDE in Nelsonville

The Upper Sandusky FFA team took 13th place out of 38 teams and 244 individuals in the state forestry career development event Oct. 3 at Hocking College, Nelsonville. This is the second year Upper Sandusky has participated in the forestry CDE and all the members did well, adviser Anna Creswell said in a press release.

ODNR to release pheasants for hunting

COLUMBUS — More than 15,000 ring-necked pheasants will be released at 25 Ohio public hunting areas this fall to provide additional hunting opportunities across the state, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Brothers team up to extinguish fire

Before the Upper Sandusky Fire Department arrived at the scene of a field fire on CH 47 early Monday afternoon, two young neighbors rushed to extinguish the blaze and keep it from spreading to a nearby garage. The young men wanted to make sure their neighbors did not go through what they experienced less than 48 hours earlier.

Union overflow parking area completed

Upper Sandusky Exempted Village Schools Board of Education members said at Monday night’s meeting a new overflow parking area at Union School recently was finished. A number of donations helped to get the project done for less than $25,000, creating 54 extra parking spaces, which board members said was very much needed.

Mohawk to stay in black 5 years

SYCAMORE — The Mohawk Local School District should remain in the black throughout the next five years. That was what treasurer Ray Swartz told the board of education when he presented his required twice yearly five-year forecast during its October meeting Monday night.
