Local man found deceased near combine

The cause of death is unknown after a rural Upper Sandusky man died suddenly while working on harvesting a field in Pitt Township on Tuesday afternoon. Deputies received a call at 5:21 p.m. from a man stating he found his father face down next to his combine in the 15000 block of TH 127.

Harpster Council sets trick or treat

HARPSTER — Harpster Council had a light agenda during its meeting Tuesday night. But one item discussed was important to the town’s children — at least those with a sweet tooth. Council set the village’s annual trick or treat night for 5-7 p.m. Oct. 31. Like in previous years, the time was set to coincide with Upper Sandusky’s time.

Marseilles Council meets

MARSEILLES — Marseilles Village Council met in regular session Tuesday. In old business, council learned the portable toilet will be removed from the park around Nov. 1, and fliers will be distributed in the village with information about trick or treat Oct. 31.

Judging soils featured

Change was the topic of this year’s Wyandot County soils contest for agriculture students from Carey, Upper Sandusky, Riverdale and Mohawk. The predominate change was made for the rural judging category in determining soil textures.

ODNR: Hunters should confirm locations

ATHENS — Access to some public hunting lands in southeast Ohio have changed, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and hunters are encouraged to check with the landowners of both public and private lands each year before traveling to their hunting locations.
