Hopes, dreams shared at Disney-themed Relay

Speakers cried Saturday night as attendees heard what the word “hope” means to cancer survivors and their families and each letter was lit up at the annual Relay For Life of Wyandot County event at Upper Sandusky High School. For Trisha Troiano, the words were personal. Her mother, Carole Shaw, is a three-time cancer survivor and was this year’s honorary survivor.

Brothers drown after flipping boat

Two Bucyrus residents were pronounced dead at the Sandusky River on Sunday after a report came in of a flipped boat in the waters. The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a Bucyrus woman at 6:15 p.m.

Criminal, traffic cases heard

Sandra King, Upper Sandusky, charged by the state with passing a bad check, pleaded no contest, finding deferred on conditions. Treston V. King, Upper Sandusky, charged by the police with selling cigarettes to an underage individual, pleaded not guilty, trial set for July 6.

Couples apply to be married

Jack E. Esdale, Oak Harbor, was cited for driving under suspension the night of April 26 after a traffic stop on Ohio 53 near CH 38. Deputies performed a residence check the night of April 26 in the 1400 block of TH 72, Nevada.

Law enforcement combine efforts to form special response team

Team training

Since October, the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office special response team has been meeting bi-monthly for two-hour training sessions at various buildings and offices in the county. Currently, the team is comprised of 10 members of law enforcement and is a joint effort between the WCSO and the Upper Sandusky and the Carey police departments, forming a multi-agency team.
