Kiwanis Club may return to city after 10-year hiatus

After receiving interest from several Upper Sandusky residents, members of area Kiwanis clubs traveled to the city Wednesday to share an overview of the service organization and inquire about interest in a new club to be based here. The last time a Kiwanis Club was organized in Upper Sandusky was at least 10 years ago, members from around the region and state said.

3 injured in rollover crash

Three people suffered serious injuries after a one-vehicle accident on CH 44 in Eden Township on Wednesday afternoon. Cory Penwell, 25, of Upper Sandusky, was westbound on CH 44 east of CH 134 at 1:22 p.m. when he lost control of his 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee on loose stone, driving off the right side of the roadway, overturning in a cornfield and coming to rest on the right side of the vehicle.

Sycamore Fire and Rescue to get new squad, purchase ambulance from co.

SYCAMORE — Sycamore is adding a third ambulance to its fire and emergency medical services squad fleet. During its regular meeting Monday, the village council approved separate resolutions to accept a new 2015 Ford E4-50 ambulance from the Wyandot County Board of Commissioners and to purchase the 2006 one it will be replacing for the trade-in value of $11,000.

Changes coming to Upper tax code due to state mandate

As the city continues preparations to come into compliance with a new state law related to municipal income tax, Upper Sandusky City Council on Tuesday heard the first reading of an ordinance to make the changes. The first reading was approved by a vote of 6-1, with Councilman Tom Shumaker voting against the move.

Committee votes to charge for mattresses, furniture in fall cleanup

The Upper Sandusky service committee on Tuesday approved changes to its upcoming fall cleanup, which is scheduled for Sept. 28 to Oct. 2. Streets supervisor Allen Boes said the city offers pickup and disposal of mattresses for $12 each during regular trash pickup and workers use their discretion, depending on the size of the item, on how much extra to charge for couches and other large furniture.
