William W. Field, LaRue, was traveling southbound on Ohio 67 the afternoon of May 6 when he struck a dog that ran into the roadway. Eugene H. Forney, Forest, was cited with left of center the morning of May 7 after a minor vehicle accident on CH 53.
A Michigan man was transported to Wyandot Memorial Hospital on June 22 after striking a trailer that detached from a truck in a head-on collision. Robert E. Trausch, McCutchenville, was traveling northbound on Ohio 53 near mile post 23 when his trailer became separated from the truck.
COLUMBUS — After severe flooding across much of northwest Ohio, Columbia Gas of Ohio on Monday offered tips to ensure safety for residences with natural gas appliances. According to a press release from the company, residents should take several actions after a flood with their natural gas appliances.
The bridge at the historic Indian Mill has been reopened to traffic. After several delays in the project, the bridge and nearby park area at the Sandusky River are accessible again.
SYCAMORE — A 3-year-old boy could be released from the hospital this week as he begins recovering from injuries he sustained after falling into his family pool last week. Jordan “Ton” Raypole was found unresponsive by his siblings in a private swimming pool in the 4000 block of Ohio 231 last Wednesday.
The Wyandot County Board of Commissioners signed a resolution Monday to hire one full-time and one part-time skilled laborer at the Wyandot County Solid Waste Management District. Jason Gillespie was hired for full time at a rate of $12 an hour, beginning July 6, and John Burgess for a rate of $10.50 an hour.
CAREY — Construction work at the new school site for Carey Exempted Village Schools came to a halt Monday as Gilbane Inc., the firm managing the construction of the new facility, locked out workers because of “non-payment services,” according to a press release issued by the school district Monday.
CAREY — Carey Exempted Village Schools saw two longtime teachers, Marty Everhart and Maureen Kovach, and one longtime school bus driver, Esther Worst, retire at the end of the school year. Combined, the trio have worked for Carey schools for a total of 63 years.
COLUMBUS — The Ohio Tax Credit Authority has approved a 55 percent, nine-year job creation tax credit to bring Halla Visteon Climate Control USA LLC to the village of Carey. According to a press release from the Ohio Department of Development, the company expects to create 139 full-time positions, generating $5.2 million in annual payroll as a result of its new project in Carey.
