Shania A. Johnson, Upper Sandusky, was cited for public use of a parking lot and a stop sign violation the night of April 18 after a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Seventh Street.

SYCAMORE — An iconic building that has stood tall in the village of Sycamore for more than a century has been reduced to a pile of rubble. A crew has been demolishing the grain mill at the intersection of North Sycamore and West Saffel avenues, referred to by locals simply as “The Mill,” for about the past week, village officials reported during a regular meeting of Sycamore Council on Tuesday.

HARPSTER — The village of Harpster has been approved for grant funding to repave a portion of Cherokee Street, but the village’s cost is not in its budget and the project will be postponed, Mayor Jim Robertson told council Tuesday. Robertson said he recently received confirmation that the village had been granted $18,554 in Issue 1 funding for the paving project.

COLUMBUS — Haley Davis, of Bucyrus, has joined Ohio Farm Bureau Federation’s field staff to help support county farm bureaus in their operations.

REYNOLDSBURG — The Ohio Department of Agriculture recently announced approval for local sponsors to purchase agricultural easements on 54 family farms representing 7,512 acres in 26 counties. Local sponsoring organizations, which include land trusts, counties, a township and local soil and water conservation districts, receive funding from the Clean Ohio Fund to manage the local agricultural easement purchase program.

COLUMBUS — A native Ohio butterfly is the featured species for the seventh Ohio Wildlife Legacy Stamp photo contest, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Butterflies come in a countless number of colors.

COLUMBUS — As summer approaches, many Ohioans will take part in spotting young wildlife. Each year, Ohio Department of Natural Resources officials offer advice for Ohioans to enjoy wildlife from a distance and leave young animals in the wild.

Brian P. Bolen, Findlay, was transported from the Seneca County Jail to the Wyandot County Jail before a pre-trail hearing the afternoon of April 17. He was returned to the Seneca County Jail after the hearing.

Four vehicles were reported broken into the morning of April 17 on South Hazel, West Johnson and South Eighth streets. Officers assisted Upper Sandusky Emergency Medical Services the afternoon of April 17 in the 100 block of Duck Pond Road.
