KENTON — Kenton appeared to be in pretty bad shape Thursday afternoon. The Wildcats trailed Riverdale by six runs after the top of the fourth inning in a non-conference softball contest.

Thurston Dyer accomplished one of two big goals at this year’s OHSAA individual wrestling tournament. By winning two matches in his third state appearance, he placed eighth at 138 pounds and earned a spot on the podium.

Upper holds off Buckeye Central, 15-13

NEW WASHINGTON — Upper Sandusky built a 13-0 lead and needed almost all of it to hold off Buckeye Central, 15-13, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Thursday. The Rams scored five times each in the first and second innings, twice in the third and once in the fourth to go up 13-0, but the Bucks came back with a single run in the bottom of the fourth, six runs in the fifth and two runs in the sixth to cut their deficit to 13-9.

Upper junior high track teams take 1st in tri-meet

Upper Sandusky’s junior high track and field teams opened the season with wins in a tri-match against Colonel Crawford and Ridgedale. The Rams girls (49 points) edged the Eagles (44) and Rockets (41), while the boys won with easy with a 93-41 advantage on Colonel Crawford.
