Carey holds off Upper, 12-10

Carey’s first win of the season was a marquee win. The Blue Devils used a seven-run sixth inning to take a big lead and held on to defeat Upper Sandusky, 12-10, in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball game Saturday.

Blayc Hacker’s season debut was a good one. The sophomore pitcher returned from an injury and allowed one run on seven hits and a walk with six strikeouts in a complete-game 9-1 Upper Sandusky victory against Carey in Northern 10 Athletic Conference softball play Saturday.

FOREST — The Riverdale Spring Classic Soccer Tournament for youth is May 7-8 at the Ranger Sports Complex, 406 W. Zimmerman St., Forest. The fee is $100 per team, and payment and registration must be received by April 15. Wyandot Sports Hall of Fame to induct 6th class April 6th

The Wyandot Sports Hall of Fame will have its sixth annual dinner and induction ceremony at 6 p.m. April 16 at the Masters’ Building on the Wyandot County Fairgrounds. The 2016 class of inductees includes Jim Draper, Carey; Don Hannam, Mohawk; Hank Hemmerly, Riverdale; Mike McGuire, Wynford; Curtis McMillan and Steve Schertzer, Upper Sandusky; and the 1955 Upper Sandusky football team.

CAREY — Upper Sandusky’s offense had been somewhat quiet this year through its first four games, and it was again Wednesday through four innings. But Carson Mitteramaier’s two-run home run in the fifth inning provided a spark, and the Rams ran away with a 14-4 victory at Carey.

CAREY — Twice last season, Upper Sandusky scored seven runs in wins against Carey. In Wednesday’s Northern 10 Athletic Conference Opener for both teams, the Rams twice tagged Carey for seven or more runs in an inning.

Warriors roll past Eagles, 13-3

NORTH ROBINSON — Mohawk had eight hits and drew 12 walks while rolling to a 13-3 win against Colonel Crawford in Northern 10 Athletic Conference baseball play Wednesday. The Warriors scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings and tacked on a final run in the seventh.
