Mike and John Vogel earned gold medals with a score of 831 in the doubles competition Thursday in the Special Olympics National Unified Bowling Tournament in Reno, Nevada.
Upper Sandusky Middle School will host an area wrestling tournament with proceeds going toward the eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C. Wrestlers up to age 14 are eligible to compete in the inaugural Cory Washburn Memorial Tournament at 10 a.m. March 13.

COLUMBUS — Cole Draper needed one period to get going. After that, he controlled the action. The 170-pound junior got on track to place at the state wrestling tournament for the second year in a row with a 5-2 preliminary-round decision over Delphos Jefferson’s Hunter Binkley.
COLUMBUS — Thurston Dyer finally won his preliminary-round match and Noah Clary won his state tournament debut to advance straight to Friday’s championship quarterfinals. It was Clary who looked like he had wrestled in the state tournament before.
Carey’s Sydney Wentling was a first-team All-Northwest District selection in Division IV to lead all area players on the teams released Thursday evening. Wentling’s teammate Shelby Kin was selected to the second team in Division IV, and Riverdale’s Syndey Holderman was a second-team honoree in Division III.
Upper Sandusky’s Wes Vent led all area boys as a first-team All-Northwest District selection in Division II on teams released Thursday evening. All other area boys selected to the team were honorable mention, including Vent’s teammate, Kameron Beekman.
Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church B lost a 9-3 decision but came back with 5-1 and 5-3 victories to win the Wyandot County Church Dartball League regular season title Thursday. The league tournament is 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene.
Upper Sandusky’s Wes Vent was player of the year, and Jeff Winslow was coach of the year on the All-Northern 10 Athletic Conference boys basketball team released Wednesday. Carey’s Abel LaRoche and Wynford’s Alex Crall also were first-team All-N10 picks.
