Early 2nd-half run Rams pull away

A pair of buckets off quick sets to start the second half gave the Rams offense a shot of adrenaline in a Northern 10 Athletic Conference girls basketball game against Colonel Crawford on Tuesday. More importantly, the second one got Abigail Fogle going.

Mohawk’s Draper finishes 4th at GMVWA tourney

FAIRBORN — Cole Draper placed fourth to lead Mohawk in the conclusion of the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association tournament Tuesday at Wright State University’s Nutter Center. The Warriors finished 15th with 53.5 points among Division II and III teams in the 57-team tournament that featured mostly Division I schools.

O’Flaherty 1st, Pratt 2nd at Thunderbird Invite

LIMA — Marcus O’Flaherty defended his individual championship and Jevyn Pratt took second to lead Carey to a sixth-place finish among 19 teams Tuesday in the Thurderbird Holiday Invitational at Lima Central Catholic. Coldwater edged Willimasburg, 219.5-213.5, for first place, while the Blue Devils finished with 142.5 points.

Stuckman’s 24 not quite enough

NEW WASHINGTON — Jade Stuckman connected on six 3-pointers and scored 13 of her 24 points in the fourth quarter, but Wynford’s comeback attempt against Buckeye Central fell short, 57-52, on Tuesday night. The Royals (4-6, 3-4 Northern 10 Athletic Conference) trailed the entire game but got as close as two points at 54-52 in the final minute with a pair of Alyssa Harrer steals that led to baskets, but the Bucks’ Emma Studer made 4 of 6 free throws in the fourth quarter to help her team hold on.

Flyers top Falcons for 3rd place

WAPAKONETA — For the second day in a row, Riverdale could not sustain a good start in the Wapakoneta Holiday Tournament, falling 66-57 against Marion Local on Tuesday. The Falcons (7-5) led 38-29 at halftime before surrendering the lead in the third quarter.

Upper in 3rd after 1st day in tournament

TIFFIN — Four of eight Upper Sandusky wrestlers are onto the semifinals of the Reineke Family Dealerships Wrestling Classic after one day of results Tuesday at Tiffin Columbian. Thurston Dyer (138 pounds), Keegan Gullifer (145), Noah Clary (152) and Connor Johnston (220) all went undefeated on the first day.

Carey pulls away in 4th quarter

ATTICA — For the first time this year, Carey was pushed into the fourth quarter. The Blue Devils responded. Leading just by one after three quarters, Carey pulled away down the stretch to stay unbeaten with a 55-44 victory Monday night at Seneca East.

BUCYRUS — Wynford’s inside-out offense played to its full potential in the first half of a non-league win over Ashland Crestview on Monday. Seniors Braxton Tea, Alex Crall and James Ort had a lot to do with the Royals’ success.
